Building on the foundation established in the Postgraduate Certificate, the Diploma maintains a practice-based focus while encouraging participants to deepen their understanding by critically engaging with broader educational theories beyond their immediate experience.

Unit 3: Professional Learning through Research
The Diploma represents the second stage in a structured, three-stage progression in the study of teaching and learning within the university context. The final stage—the full Master of Education (MEd) programme—offers comprehensive training and support in educational research methodology. It enables participants to undertake rigorous educational inquiry to investigate, evaluate, and enhance their professional practice.

After you have completed the induction session, you will commence the web-based study component of the course. This will take place in our dedicated virtual learning environment (VLE) including online course materials, learning resources and regular tutorial support.
Our course provides an interactive learning experience and allows you to study at your own pace. You will be encouraged to interact with other course participants, and each module will involve group activities.

Each module will be assessed by coursework and a comprehensive written assignment, video-based assessment or equivalent.
Contact time and study hours
You should aim to study for a total of 300 hours over the duration of the course (3months). The scheduling of the induction event will vary according to your cohort.
Entry requirements
The Level 7 PG Diploma is intended for staff, clinicians and others who have successfully completed the Level 7 Certificate or PG Certificate o or equivalent programmes at other institutions.
Progression Opportunity
Upon completion of this course, you can choose to top up your studies for a full Master's degree.
